I have been a fan of World War 2 shooters since Medal of Honor: Allied Assault came out in early 2000. Up until now I still love playing World War 2 games. Ubisoft and Gearbox Software released Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway last 2008 and I have to say that this was a different experience from other World War Shooters.
Gameplay:
Brother’s in Arms: Hell’s Highway is focused on Squad Based gameplay. You can give orders to your teams, where to cover and shoot although your allies’ A.I. are very inconsistent, sometimes they are smart but most of the time, they are extremely brain-dead.
Just like in Gears of War, you can hide behind walls and shoot down your enemies. it’s very efficient and useful especially if you’re under heavy fire.

Graphics:
I’m really not impressed on how Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway rendered. Graphics are quite outdated compared to Call of Duty World at War. Cut-scenes are dull plus the facial structures are quite funny.

Sounds and Gore Factor:
Sounds are great, Gunshots and Explosions are mixed very well. Blood splatter and Camera Actions works very well, you can see blood squirting out of your enemy’s head mixed with Slow Motion Effects.
Overall Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway is a decent game, but not good enough to compete with Call of Duty.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

It’s finally here, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 finally arrived last November 13, 2009 (here in the philippines). It’s a no brainer this is the best First Person Modern Shooter ever created, Activision and Infinity Ward had done it again.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 takes off 5 years after the events of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the russians retaliate after the assassination of their national hero Zakhaev. A new enemy has arrived named Makarov, an evil terrorist leader who will kill anyone, anywhere for money. You will play 4 characters in the game, Private Allen, Ramirez, Roach and Soap.

The Graphics are superb, one of the best visuals ever made for an FPS game. It uses an extremly upgraded version of Modern Warfare engine that was used on the first game. You will see a lot of eye candy explosions and realistic texturing and images through out the game.

Cliffhanger

Sounds are incredible! you will experience the true function of your 5.1 / 7.1 Speakers, with it’s extraordinary Musical scoring and ultra realistic sound effects, There is no doubt that Modern Warfare 2 has the best in game sound ever made.

The gameplay is kind of the same as the first Modern Warfare but with more Weapons, tactics and the very useful Predator Drone. Campaign will just suck you into the story leaving you hours of playing although the campaign mode is quite short but a little longer than the first COD4: Modern Warfare. Multiplayer and Spec Ops mode are the best features of Modern Warfare 2, you’ll find Xbox live Gold worthy of your money. In Spec Ops mode, you can play short but challenging missions including some refurbished missions from the first game like the very popular Ghillie Mission.

You can’t go wrong with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Buy it while it lasts. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 broke the sales record of all entertainment media products, raking over $3 Billion, MW2 became the best and fastest selling game of all time.

Call of Duty: World at War

World at War

Call of Duty is at it again! Back to World War II setting. We actually anticipated a more modern or futuristic setting for Call of Duty 5, but then again it went back to World War II… Quite disappointing in a way due to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which was by the way the Best game I have ever played my whole life.

I’m not saying that getting back in a World War II setting is a bad thing, it’s just there’s nothing new to it, well except for the outstanding story and new line of enemies. Same guns as Call of Duty 1 to 3, same setting, same feel, This is Call of Duty: World at War.

This game uses the Modern Warfare Graphics Engine and the same gameplay as previous Call of Duty titles. Sniping and Bombardment sequences are the best part in this game, you can see your enemies dismembered and torn apart. After you have finished the game, you will unlock the Nazi Zombie game wherein you will shoot down Zombies and earn points.

If you are to compare this to Call of Duty 4, World at War is just a piece of crap to be honest.
